Wilhelminaberg Landgraaf afgesloten voor bezoekers
Vanaf zondagochtend 29 maart zijn de Wilhelminaberg en het recreatieve gebied eromheen afgesloten. Bij de toegangswegen naar de berg worden hekken geplaatst.
De reden voor de afsluiting is dat er nog steeds veel recreanten en sporters op en rond de Wilhelminaberg zijn, ondanks het veelvuldig herhalen van de maatregelen tegen de verspreiding van het coronavirus. Met deze aantallen bezoekers kan er geen veilige afstand gehouden worden van elkaar.
In het belang van de volksgezondheid en de handhaving van de openbare orde is daarom deze aanvullende maatregel getroffen. Rondom de Wilhelminaberg wordt gehandhaafd. Bij overtreding wordt een boete van 390 euro opgelegd. Dit is op basis van de afspraken met de Veiligheidsregio Zuid-Limburg.
Noodverordening
Sinds vrijdag 27 maart is de noodverordening COVID-19 van de Veiligheidsregio Zuid-Limburg van kracht. In deze noodverordening zijn aangescherpte maatregelen over de bestrijding van het Coronavirus verwerkt, die het kabinet op 23 maart heeft vastgesteld. De noodverordening geldt voor de 16 Zuid-Limburgse gemeenten.
Op basis van deze noodverordening heeft de voorzitter van de VRZL, mw. J.M. Penn-te Strake op verzoek van burgemeester Raymond Vlecken het aanwijzingsbesluit voor de sluiting van de Wilhelminaberg getekend.
Dit houdt in dat vanaf zondagochtend 29 maart de Wilhelminaberg en het recreatieve gebied eromheen verboden gebied zijn.

The reason for the closure is that there are still many leisure visitors and sportsmen and women on and around the Wilhelminaberg, despite frequent efforts to get them to adhere to the measures that have been put in place to combat the spread of coronavirus. With these numbers of visitors, it is not possible to keep a safe distance from each other.
This additional measure has therefore been taken in the interests of public health and the maintenance of public order. This measure is being enforced around the Wilhelminaberg. In the case of violations, a fine of 390 euros will be imposed. This is based on the agreements with the South Limburg Security Region.
Emergency decree
The COVID-19 emergency decree of the South Limburg Security Region has been in force since Friday 27 March. This emergency decree incorporates stricter measures on the control of coronavirus, which the government adopted on 23 March. The emergency decree applies to the 16 South Limburg municipalities.
On the basis of this emergency decree, Ms J.M. Penn-te Strake, the chair of the South Limburg Security Region, has signed the designation order (in Dutch) at the request of Raymond Vlecken, Mayor of Landgraaf, for the closure of the Wilhelminaberg.
This means that from the morning of Sunday 29 March, the Wilhelminaberg and the recreational area around it are forbidden areas.
